Mobile Phone Content Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) is a method used to enable portable devices to access the internet. WAP enabled devices cannot read pages written in the usual language of the World Wide Web (HTML) therefore pages are written using the Wireless Markup Language (WML) and its complementary scripting language WMLScript. These pages can then be accessed via a WAP-enabled mobile phone or Personal Digital Assistant so that information can be viewed anywhere within the UK's mobile network. WAP can also be integrated with Active Server Page technology so pages can be dynamically generated to deliver up to the minute information.
