ASP.Net has replaced Active Server Pages as the main programming platform for web software development. ASP.Net pages can be written using the power of full programming languages such as C# and Visual Basic (rather than scripting languages), and can integrate seamlessly with external code modules even if they have been developed using a different programming language. The use of fully-developed modern programming languages allows highly sophisticated systems to be written in an easily-maintainable way, and also allows code modules (perhaps containing shared business logic) to be shared between web and back-office systems without recoding. ASP.Net is the primary platform used by Whitespace for writing web applications.AJAX (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML) is a set of web development techniques which permit even more dynamic behaviour of web applications by enabling web pages to be updated from the web server without the user needing to click on a button in the normal way. These techniques can be very powerful when used appropriately.
